State of Hawaii vs Francis Dias Jr.

Defendant was charged with burglary and criminal property damage for a fire that occurred July 13, 2000. Honolulu Fire and Police departments responded to a fire at 1130 Kapahulu Avenue at 0247 hrs. Fire department officials determined that an open flame was used to light an ignitable liquid that had been poured inside of the structure. During the fire investigation the business owner discovered several items missing from the office. Defendant was charged after a witness stated that he saw Mr. Diaz climbing out of the window of the structure.

During the week of July 20, 2001 a jury tried defendant. After a week of trial the Jury found the defendant not guilty.
